CORPORATE EVENTS:
Team Building Classes with Iron Bartender
Available at The Madrona, Barndiva, Catellis, or your corporate offsite location.
Scott Beattie’s team-building cocktail class brings camaraderie, creativity, and a little friendly competition to the mix. Designed specifically for corporate groups, this high-energy experience blends cocktail education with a spirited twist: an “Iron Bartender” challenge.
The class begins with a 20–30 minute tutorial covering cocktail making essentials. Scott demonstrates proper techniques and guides the group through making three classic cocktails—typically an Old Fashioned, a Margarita, and a Mojito.
After the group has mastered the basics, participants break into small teams for the main event. A covered table is unmasked, overflowing with herbs, edible flowers, seasonal fruits, house-made syrups, liqueurs, specialty ice, spirits, and natural sodas. Teams are given approximately 45 minutes to collaborate and create an original cocktail to present to a panel of judges.
The class concludes with a tasting, judging, and the awarding of prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. This lively and interactive experience is ideal for strengthening team bonds and capturing unforgettable moments.

Behind the Bar
Scott Beattie
Born and raised in San Francisco, Scott Beattie began bartending at The Blue Light, Azie, and Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio while studying English at UC Berkeley. In 2001, he moved to Napa Valley and joined the opening bar team at Martini House, helping craft a classically rooted, seasonal cocktail program.
Scott’s talent caught the eye of restaurateurs Nick Peyton and Douglas Keane, who brought him on as Bar Manager at the soon-to-open Cyrus in Healdsburg. The restaurant quickly earned a rare 4-star San Francisco Chronicle review and two Michelin stars, setting a new standard for fine dining in Sonoma County. At Cyrus, Scott developed his signature “garden-to-glass” approach—sourcing from local farms and foraging nearby woods to create hyper-seasonal cocktails.
His work garnered national acclaim in Food & Wine, Gourmet, Playboy, Afar, and more, leading to the release of his debut book, Artisanal Cocktails, in 2008. The book earned an IACP nomination and a feature on Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, helping to usher in a new era of farm-driven mixology and inspiring bartenders and home enthusiasts alike.
